PhD graduates Dr Motlatsi Albert Mathunya, Dr Malillane Lillane and Dr Sekhuthe Jim Mohokare
The University of South Africa (Unisa) held its autumn graduation ceremonies at PACOFS in Bloemfontein on 18 and 19 June 2026. The ceremonies painted a picture of an unforgettable celebration of achievement, perseverance and transformation as graduates crossed the stage into a new chapter of their lives.
Approximately one thousand graduates were conferred with qualifications across various disciplines, marking a significant milestone in their academic journeys. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, pride and emotion as graduates, accompanied by their families and loved ones, gathered to celebrate years of dedication and hard work.
Adding a memorable touch to the celebrations, graduates were given the opportunity to participate in interviews and capture professional photographs to preserve the memories of the occasion. The joy, tears and smiles created breathtaking scenes that truly embodied the spirit of achievement.
One of the most remarkable highlights of the graduation ceremonies was the conferment of five doctoral degrees. The ceremonies were further elevated by the presence of distinguished guests, including the Free State MEC for Education, Dr Manthake Julia Maboya. A particularly proud moment was witnessing the graduation of Abraham Vosloo, Northern Cape MEC for Education, with a Bachelor of Commerce in Law qualification, an inspiring reminder that learning and personal growth have no limits, regardless of professional achievements.
The 2026 autumn graduations were more than a ceremonial event; they were a celebration of resilience, determination and the transformative power of education. As graduates walked off the stage and into their futures, they carried not only qualifications but also stories of courage, ambition and dreams realised.
