Chief Albert Luthuli Research Chair
- Creating platforms for interdisciplinary research projects: These include archiving of history, creating space that allows for the centering of indigenous knowledge systems, incorporating community knowledges in methodological approaches, and building research networks.
- Establishing collaboration hubs: These will facilitate engagements between academics, students, activists and grassroots or community members, and serve to host relevant events.
- Building capacity: This will involve recruitment and supervision of master’s and doctoral students, recruitment of research associates, and mentoring of post-doctoral fellows.
- Ensuring sustainability: This will be done by fundraising and sourcing external funding.
- Encouraging engaged scholarship: To be a safe space for relevant community work and projects, where community members and organic intellectuals can move freely with ease through the corridors of the university.
