The Unisa Art Gallery will be hosting its final art exhibition for 2025, titled "Moving Spaces: Senior Visual Multimedia Art Student Exhibition". The exhibition opens on Saturday 22 November 2025, at 11:30 for 12:00, at the Unisa Art Gallery, Kgorong Building, Muckleneuk Campus, Pretoria.

"Moving Spaces" is a multidisciplinary showcase celebrating the creative achievements of senior students in the Visual Multimedia Art programmes in the Department of Art and Music. The exhibition features artworks by both honours and final-level BA Visual Multimedia Art students, offering audiences an engaging encounter with fresh artistic voices and varied perceptions.

Curated by Dr Ania Krajewska, Kabelo Maja and Andrew Smith, the exhibition underscores Unisa’s commitment to fostering innovative and socially responsive art practices. It also highlights the department’s dedication to equipping emerging artists with the conceptual and technical tools needed to navigate contemporary creative landscapes.

Tshegofatso Seoka, Curator of the Unisa Art Gallery, states that the exhibition will delve into a broad range of concepts stemming from personal, social and collective experiences. "The title, 'Moving Spaces', symbolises transformation and fluidity, both in thought and in artistic expression, encouraging viewers to reflect on how visual art can question conventions, challenge perceptions, and shift ways of seeing," she says.

Seoka urges art enthusiasts to support the exhibition by attending in large numbers, as it will be the last exhibition the gallery hosts in 2025.

Opening remarks will be delivered by Dr Daniel Mosako, Acting Chair of the Department of Art and Music, Dr Ania Krajewska, Coordinator of the VMA Honours Programme, and Andrew Smith, Coordinator of the BA VMA final-level programme.
