The Directorate Music South African Music Scholarship Competition will take place on 7 - 9 October 2020 at Unisa.
Grade 8 students who excel in the practical Grade 8 music examinations during 2020, will be invited to participate in the competition.

Age Restrictions
Age limits for the Unisa South African Music Scholarship Competition are as follows:
Instrumentalists 21 yrs
Singers 23 yrs
Requirements for participation
- Students must fulfil the following requirements:
Mark allocation
- Achieve at least 85% in the examination as a whole and
- Achieve at least 85% for the prescribed pieces only.
Prerequisites
- A student must have passed Unisa Theory of Music Grade 6 by the first session of that particular year. Students writing the required Theory of Music Grade 6 examination in the second session, will not be eligible for participation.
- No deferred participation
- Students must participate in the Unisa South African Music Scholarship Competition in the same year that they play the examination and qualify. Participation may not be deferred to the following year.
- Memorisation: Memorisation is not a requirement for participation in the Unisa South African Music Scholarship Competition.
