On 23 March 2017, the Unisa Institutional Advancement Directorate welcomed surprise visitors Ann Karson, nee Tobias, and her friend Marion Halliday to the Unisa Muckleneuk Campus.
Originally from South Africa and currently residing in North Carolina, USA, the retired clinical social worker paid a long-anticipated visit to her alma mater while on holiday visiting various destinations on the African continent.
“My visit to my alma mater was precious to me,” Karson said. She had met Unisa staff who were on a fundraising visit in the USA in June 2016. She had wanted to donate $100 but was not able to so at the time.
Ann and Marion were welcomed to Unisa by David Farirai, Director Institutional Advancement, and Lloyd Modjadji, Development Officer, Institutional Advancement, when she came in person to donate her $100 (about R1300) to the university.
