Sakarea Kenewang is the new convenor for the Unisa Botswana Alumni Chapter.
Alumni in Botswana gathered in numbers to attend their first Botswana Alumni Chapter and Convenor Election Event for 2018 where Sakarea Kenewang was elected the new convenor for the chapter. The breakfast took place at the Gaborone Convention Centre, Peermont The Grand Palm, on 6 April 2018.
Kenewang is no stranger to chapter structures as he has been an active member for a few years. Other new committee members include Ntokozo Solomon, Kagiso Kwadiba, and Tlotlo T Modisaeman.
David Farirai, Director of Institutional Advancement, shared the latest developments and structures at Unisa, emphasising the importance of alumni assisting the university to grow and succeed in all its endeavours. “Alumni, he said, “also have opportunities available to further their studies at postgraduate level,” and handled enquiries in this regard.
Amanda Tlale, Manager of Unisa Alumni Relations, facilitated the convenor’s election. Lethogonolo Makgane, outgoing convenor, emphasised the importance of the chapter in the lives of alumni and said, “The chapter can play a role in their studies and also in the community projects in Botswana.”
