Unisa Press has announced a partnership with ResearchGate, the world's largest professional network for researchers. This collaboration – the first of its kind between ResearchGate and an African scholarly publisher – will significantly amplify the global visibility and impact of Unisa Press journals, connecting the institution’s vibrant research community with millions of scholars around the world.

Through this ResearchGate partnership, ten Unisa Press open-access journals will be featured on the ResearchGate platform, making it easier for researchers to access and discover research that is cited by more than 25 million researchers who use ResearchGate.

Under this partnership, open-access content from Unisa Press journals will be instantly shared with ResearchGate’s global research community. The partnership supports sustained engagement within the research ecosystem, attracting new authors, submissions and fostering collaborative opportunities.

In an article published by ResearchGate in December 2025, Pieter Rall, Managing Editor: Journals at Unisa Press, stated: "At Unisa Press, we are committed to publishing high-quality research that speaks to both African and global audiences. Through our Journal Home partnership with ResearchGate, we can expand the visibility and impact of our journals, increasing recognition for our authors while growing publications and further strengthening our portfolio."

The academic journals and books portfolio spans a diverse range of disciplines – from nanoscience and literature to education, health studies and beyond – reflecting Unisa Press’s commitment to publishing high-quality research that resonates with both African and global audiences.

In addition to journal publishing, Unisa Press proudly offers UnisaRxiv, a cutting-edge preprint server developed in partnership with ScienceOpen.

Its academic offering voices contemporary matters linked to the key niche areas identified by the Unisa Research and Innovation Portfolio.

As the only African scholarly press with academic books and a vigorous journal publishing programme, Unisa Press collaborates with Routledge Taylor & Francis, Sabinet and others to co-publish our books and host more than 50 journals online and in print.

Unisa Press offers authors a publishing experience grounded in rigorous peer review, broad disciplinary coverage, global distribution and active support for open access.
