Falesizwe, Tsebo-Ulwazi and Mufundo-Thuso learners at the Unisa career exhibition in Namahadi, Frankfort
Lesedi La Tsela, an engaged scholarship initiative based at the Department of Economics, recently partnered with Unisa’s Kroonstad Regional Centre and Unisa Radio to host a highly impactful career exhibition in Namahadi, Frankfort (Free State). The event attracted over 700 Grade 11 and 12 learners from Falesizwe, Tsebo-Ulwazi and Mufundo-Thuso Secondary Schools.

This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to bridging the persistent information gap faced by learners in underprivileged communities, especially those in rural areas and townships. These students often have limited exposure to the full range of academic and career opportunities available to them. Lesedi La Tsela is dedicated to changing this by actively sharing information with learners in these communities.
The exhibition provided a dynamic platform for learners to interact directly with professionals from across various economic sectors, gaining valuable insights into in-demand career paths and the skills needed in today’s job market. Unisa representatives, Thinane Moeketsi and Kamogelo Buys were also present to guide learners through available qualifications and the university’s application and registration processes.
Led by a team of dedicated academics, this initiative is more than just an event; it is a movement aimed at inspiring, informing, and empowering the next generation of professionals and changemakers in South Africa.
