The Department of Auditing is committed to developing competent, agile, and ethical auditing professionals. As part of the School of Accountancy in the College of Accounting Sciences at Unisa, our team of expert academics and professionals fosters a dynamic learning environment that bridges theory and practice - preparing students to excel in an evolving global profession.

What Makes Us Unique

Expert academic team: Our lecturers and professionals - including Chartered Accountants (CA(SA)), Certified Internal Auditors (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE), and a Registered Government Auditor (RGA) - are dedicated to academic excellence, student support, and professional relevance.

Industry-driven programmes: We are in ongoing conversation with leading organisations such as the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), and South African Institute of Government Auditors (SAIGA), ensuring that our content remains practical, current, and aligned with professional expectations.

Accredited qualifications: Recognised by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), Institute of Commercial Forensic Practitioners (ICFP), South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), our programmes meet national and international professional standards.

Specialised study paths: Students can focus on External, Internal, or Forensic Auditing - gaining expertise in assurance, risk management, or fraud investigation.

Student empowerment: A supportive and engaging learning environment with initiatives such as the Departmental Career Day and striving to support students for work placement by connecting our students directly with industry professionals and career opportunities.
