The Department of Auditing at the University of South Africa (Unisa) was established in 1962 as the only independent Auditing Department at any South African university. The Department is committed to providing its students with a quality learning experience through its highly skilled, experienced and innovative team of lecturers and administrative staff.

It is an honour to serve as the Chair of the Department of Auditing, which has devoted professors, lecturers, researchers, and support staff who are passionate about fostering a positive learning environment, providing student support, and assisting students in their transition into competent, agile and ethical professionals. The Department has 14 Chartered Accountants (CAs), 8 Certified Internal Auditor (CIAs), 2 Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs) and 1 Registered Government Auditor (RGA).
The Department offers specialised qualifications in Internal and Forensic Auditing. We also provide undergraduate External Auditing modules. We are proud to provide high-quality education that has been endorsed and accredited by professional organisations. We are accredited by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and the Institute for Commercial Forensic Practitioners (ICFP). Our undergraduate External Audit modules that we provide are included in the qualification that is accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).
We are pleased to collaborate with the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) to create a Master's Degree in Anti-Corruption. Additionally, we are in the process of developing a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Sector Finance and Audit, working in consultation with the Southern African Institute of Government Auditors (SAIGA).We make a concerted effort to ensure that the material and online classes we offer are consistent with the expectations encountered in practice. Hence, we work in conjunction with government bodies, professional organisations, and industry to guarantee that our programs are valuable, applicable, and relevant.
