New book by Unisa alumna unlocks the secrets to success

Unisa alumna, advocate Liza Tsatsi, wrote a book titled Never Give Up on Success, which she says serves as a valuable resource for individuals seeking to transform their lives or making a positive impact on others.

Tsatsi's strong passion for empowering and motivating others to embrace self-worth and self-belief has proved advantageous in her involvement with various projects, tackling socio-economic issues. Her speeches, specifically targeting women and children in communities, have garnered positive feedback with individuals sharing how their lives were positively transformed as a result.

"The positive feedback inspired me to continue delivering speeches at various social gatherings. Consequently, I began compiling some of the speeches into a book, with the aim of reaching a broader audience," Tsatsi explains.

The book delves into topics such as setting goals and maintaining momentum. It explores the transformation from pain into triumph, silencing the inner voice that undermines self-confidence, and turning setbacks into opportunities for growth.

Tsatsi expresses gratitude for the favourable response the book has received, since its recent publication in physical bookstores and on online retail platforms. "The book has been well-received thus far. Success is a universal aspiration, and the title, Never Give Up on Success, itself is attention-grabbing," she adds.

Tsatsi's professional journey began as a social worker, serving at various private and government organisations in pursuance of a career in academia and business. In 1998, she was admitted as an advocate and currently practises at the High Court of South Africa, also serving as a judge. In 2018, she was conferred with silk status by the President of the Republic of South Africa, denoting her senior counsel status.

Tsatsi's academic achievements include a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of Limpopo (formerly Turfloop), an Advanced Diploma in Social Work from the University of Bophuthatswana (now North-West University) and a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Social Work from the University of Orange Free State. She completed her LLB (Postgraduate) degree with Unisa in 1998 and obtained her Master of Law (LLM) with Unisa in 2000, following her pupillage at the Johannesburg Society of Advocates.

In 2009, while pursuing her Canadian Legal Qualification at the University of Ottawa, accredited by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, Tsatsi obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration from Unisa.

Tsatsi maintains a strong connection with the university, having served as a legal researcher for the College of Law since 1996. She also served on the Unisa Council until 2020. Tsatsi credits Unisa for shaping her future by instilling discipline, endurance, independence and goal-oriented focus. "I have learned the value of time management and developed a deep respect for every minute," she remarks.

Reflecting on Unisa's 150th anniversary, Tsatsi expresses her gratitude, stating, "Thank you, Unisa, for the gift of education and for instilling the qualities I mentioned above. I hope you continue to enrich lives, empower those in need of support and encouragement, and provide them with the invaluable gift that education represents."
