Diploma Year module NQF level: 6 Credits: 12
Module presented in English
Pre-requisite: MAT1581 & CHF1501 or CEM2601 Co-requisite: CHF2601 or CPI2601
Purpose: The purpose of this module is to enable the student to apply basic principles of fluid mechanics to solve practical problems. The student will also be equipped with sound knowledge of the fundamentals of mass transfer operations, understanding of molecular diffusion in fluids and know how to evaluate mass transfer coefficients. In this module students will also gain sound knowledge of the basic heat transfer phenomena, which includes an analysis of heat conduction, concepts of heat convection and basic radiative heat transfer. This module is part of the Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
