The Dynamics of Mission - MNY1501

Under Graduate Degree Semester module NQF level: 5 Credits: 12
Module presented in English
Co-requisite: BTH1501
Purpose: This module presents to beginner theology students an introduction to the academic discipline of missiology (mission studies). Students learn to conceive of reality in terms of household (oikos) metaphors, particularly the local congregation as communion (economy), churches in mutual partnership (ecumenism), Christian action for just sharing (economy), and Christian action for earth keeping (ecology). They learn to see Christian mission as life together within God's household of creation and as mutually transformative encounters towards the coming Reign of God. They are able to use the cycle of mission praxis to analyse the praxis of others and to construct their own contextual missiology.
