Diploma Year module NQF level: 5 Credits: 12
Module presented in English Module presented online
Purpose: The purpose of this module is to introduce students to the methodologies employed in surveying in order to establish the fundamental topographical features of the earth's surface in such a way and format as to tender the results, in the form of plans and maps, to be representative of the actual surveyed terrain. The information thus obtained, is then converted, analysed and manipulated to provide the essential data from which further design may be realized. In other words, data about the earth's topography are collected in a specific manner, making use of specific instruments and/or methods, and use specific formulae and applications to transform and record this information into a usable format that can be used by other parties, such as Civil Engineers, Architects, Environmental Engineers, mining Engineers, Etc. to effect their requirements.
