Purpose: Service design management focuses on the many important IT service management design aspects required for designing effective and efficient Information Technology (IT) services in an organisation. Qualifying students will be able to evaluate whether it is beneficial or not to design an organisation's IT as IT services, analyse IT service architectures, components, configuration items (CIs) and their interrelationships, apply appropriate IT service design and management principles to an organisation's IT, design appropriate organisational structures for effective and efficient IT services, develop practical plans for transforming an organisation's non-service-based IT into IT services. This module is at NQF level 8 in the field of computer and information sciences and forms part of the Postgraduate Diploma in Information Resource Management (90069). These competencies contribute to the development of the computing field in Southern Africa, Africa, or globally. Access to a suitable computer with appropriate software and frequent internet connectivity is required.
