Separation Principles IA - SPP2601

Diploma Year module NQF level: 6 Credits: 12
Module presented in English Module presented online
Pre-requisite: MAT1581, CEF1501 Co-requisite: CEF2601
Purpose: The purposeof this module is to introduce the student the fundamental principles of that apply to the separation of chemical mixtures. The separation processes discussed in this module including both equilibrium and dynamic modelling and a brief overview of representative industrial processes. It is essential for students to have a fundamental understanding of the important unit operations used in separation, which they will encounter in chemical industry processes. This course covers ideal binary distillation, single effect evaporation, adsorption, gas absorption/stripping, and drying. The knowledge obtained in this course will assist students with operating and troubleshooting these unit operations in a chemical plant. This module is the part of Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
