Purpose: The module aims to provide scholarly insight into the intellectual ferment and cultural changes which animate literary creativity in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, as manifested in the modernist and post-modernist movements. In order to stimulate independent thinking and an awareness of the ways in which literature reflects the world, students are guided through the analytical study of literary texts in English from these periods.
