Purpose: The purpose of this module is to introduce the fundamental principles of the various mineral separations principles to students. It is essential for students to have a fundamental understanding of the important unit operations used for separation in the mineral processing industry. This course covers gravity concentration, fluidization, dense medium separation, flotation, magnetic separation, electrical sorting and leaching. The knowledge obtained in this module will enable students to assess, analyse and dimension, mineral processing unit operations. This module is the part of Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
