Module presented in English Module presented online
Purpose: This qualification is primarily vocational, or industry oriented, characterised by the knowledge emphasis, general principles in high frequency electronics and application of Electrical Engineering technology transfer. The module provides students with a sound knowledge in a sub-field of Electronics. Students will focus on the following discrete devices areas; Fabrications of HF circuits, H-Parameters and S-parameters models, Bipolar junction transistors (BJT) circuits, Field Effect transistors (FET), Power Transistors, Transmissions Lines analysis, Impedance matching, Strip Line Technology and monolithic amplifiers, This module will enable students to apply their knowledge and skills to the field of High Frequency Electronics and Electronics Design, Power Electronics and High Frequency Electronic Telecommunications. The specific purpose of High Frequency Electronics is designed to build the necessary knowledge, understanding, abilities and skills required in fabrication of high frequency electronics circuits and towards becoming a competent practicing Professional Engineering Technician. This module provides students: 1.With the knowledge on semiconductor materials theory, fabrication of high frequency electronics integrated circuits, Bipolar Transistors, Field Effect transistors, power transistors, transmissions lines and monolithic amplifiers.. 2.With the educational base required for registration as a Candidate and/or a Professional Engineering Technician with ECSA (Refer to qualification rules). 3.Entry to programmes such as Advanced Diploma or Bachelor of Engineering technology Honours Degree programmes. 4.Entry to an Advanced Diploma upon successful completion of a work-integrated learning component, or a combination of work-integrated learning and coursework, equivalent to at least 30 credits but not to exceed 120 credits. Engineering students completing this qualification will demonstrate competence in all the Exit Level Outcomes contained in this module.
