Purpose: The purpose of this module is: To develop the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills required for learner's further learning towards becoming a competent Engineering Technician. It is intended to subsequently empower Engineering Technicians to demonstrate that they are capable of applying their acquired knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and values in the engineering working environment. To enable students to develop competencies and skills in solving problems for Direct Current electrical, magnetic, inductive and capacitive circuits. The students will be able perform calculations with respect to the different components in a direct current circuit and will also be able to discuss and design basic electrical control circuits. This module is compulsory and core for the National Diploma in Electrical Engineering. Successful completion of this module will allow students' entry to Electrical Engineering II and Electrical Machines II modules. Potential articulation possibilities when successfully completed the module.
