Purpose: The purpose of this module is to provide students with an understanding of research methodology in the discipline of Applied Criminal Justice. The main focus is to familiarise students with the different methods and techniques applied in research, as well as the different approaches that are specifically utilized in the study field of Applied Criminal Justice, with the emphasise on practical implementation of fieldwork research (How to do research). This module will equip them with a detailed knowledge base to understand the research process, the different research methods available for the collection of research information (research instruments; sampling methods; interviewing techniques) and how to plan a research project in Applied Criminal Justice.
