Purpose: Purpose of the module: The purpose of this module is for students to gain a comprehensive and systematic knowledge base in Comparative Corrections to enable students to critically analyse, explain and apply the role of different correctional systems in the international criminal justice environment. People credited with this module will be able to: analyse the relationship between different role players in the criminal justice system and explain the demographic factors that influence corrections in selected countries , justify the constitutional basis on which selected international correctional systems are founded , explain the statutory provisions that regulate the selected correctional systems , critically analyse the structure of corrections in the selected countries , debate the management philosophy in corrections in selected countries critically discuss the inmate population in the selected countries and the influence thereof on the values of the South African system
