| Purpose: This module is aimed at introducing learners to basic atomic theories, the electronic structure of atoms, the periodic table and periodicity, chemical bonding, behaviour of matter, stoichiometry, acids and bases, electrochemistry, chemical equilibrium and the chemistry of carbon. Student credited with this module will have an understanding of the basic concepts and applications of general chemistry which are critical for the fields of chemical engineering. |
