Chemical Process Design Principles - PDP3701

Advanced Diploma Year module NQF level: 7 Credits: 12
Module presented in English Module presented online
Co-requisite: TPH3701, SPP3701
Purpose: The purpose of this module is to provide students with a critical understanding of the principles and tools that can be utilised for the various stages of process design. In particular emphasis will be placed on the conceptual design stage. Students will be able to utilise systematic methods and tools to generate and screen process flow sheets. These tools include process integration (such as mass and energy integration), pollution prevention and waste minimization. Students will apply optimization techniques to process design problems. The detailed design of the process equipment will also be performed. This module is part of the Advanced Diploma in Chemical Engineering. The competencies contribute to the development of process and product design skills of technologists in Southern Africa, Africa and globally.
