Purpose: The purpose of this module is to introduce students to the concept of bibliographic control and equip them with basic skills to enable them to organise information sources in order to facilitate access to and retrieval of information. The qualifying student will be able to do basic original cataloguing and simple classification by applying two international standards, namely the Anglo-American cataloguing rules and the Dewey decimal classification system.
