Applied Thermodynamics - TDA3701

Advanced Diploma Year module NQF level: 7 Credits: 12
Module presented in English Module presented online
Purpose: The purpose of this module is to enable the students to apply thermodynamics to solve a broad range of engineering problems. The students will develop a good understanding of heating cycles, refrigeration cycles, gas turbines, steam turbines, expansion and compression of gases and steam cycles such as the Rankine cycle for electricity generation. Students will also be able to analyse and evaluate the efficiency of these various cycles and systems. This module is part of the Advanced Diploma in Chemical Engineering. The module emphasizes understanding rather than memorising, in order to stimulate creative thinking and the development of innovative skills amongst students in the field of thermodynamics.
