Purpose: The purpose of this module is to build an understanding of existing research philosophies, theories and approaches in order to apply them when doing practical research related to the discipline of Penology. The main focus is to develop critical skills and knowledge for the application of research philosophies, theories and approaches utilised in the study discipline of Penology. Students credited with this module will be able to engage in problem solution utilising appropriate research philosophies, theories, approaches and methodologies for conducting research in the discipline of Penology, as well as to exhibit the skills to identify, analyse, evaluate and address research problems through evidence-based solutions and theory-driven arguments appropriate to the discipline of Penology on Honours level.
