Unisa sends condolences on the passing of broadcasting legend, Bob Mabena

The University of South Africa (Unisa) has learnt with great sadness about the passing of renowned South African broadcasting legend, Bob Mabena. This revered giant of the airwaves with a sterling career spanning over thirty years, met his untimely death on Monday, 10 August 2020.

Mabena was a great friend of the University of South Africa, who freely volunteered his time, in spite of his demanding schedule and commitments, to mentor and share his wealth of experience and knowledge to the budding cohort of young presenters and aspirant broadcasters at the university’s campus radio station, Unisa Radio.

‘The broadcasting industry in particular and the country in general have been left poorer by the sudden passing of this giant of the airwaves. We convey our sincerest condolences to his family, relatives and friends for their loss and we will keep them in our prayers during this difficult time’, said Unisa Principal and Vice Chancellor, Professor Mandla Makhanya.
