Department of Social Work

Students with disabilities

The Department of Social Work believes in equal rights and opportunities for all students. Should you want to become a social worker, we want to support you throughout your study journey. You can decide whether you want to declare your disability in your application and registration form or not. However, if you decide not to, we will not be aware of your individual needs.

  • To qualify for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Higher Certificate in Social Auxiliary Work (HCSAW) programmes, you must take an online selection test. Follow the link below for more details regarding the selection test and admission requirements for BSW and HCSAW – Click here
Should you need additional assistance, please contact Prof Shirindi (shiriml@unisa.ac.za) for BSW or Dr Leburu  (leburge@unisa.ac.za) for HCSAW.
  • You are also encouraged to make your primary module lecturers and Ms Hobbs (hobbrm@unisa.ac.za), the practicum coordinator aware of your additional support needs. See your tutorial letter for contact details.
