A Masters or Doctoral in Psychology is being offered by the UNISA Institute for Social and Health Sciences (ISHS). As part of its work the UNISA ISHS, with the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), co-directs the Violence, Injury and Peace Research Unit (VIPRU) which aims to develop data-driven prevention initiatives and transferable solutions for issues of injury and violence, including the promotion of safety and peace. VIPRU is focused on improving the health status, safety and quality of life of the population through social science and public health-oriented research aimed at preventing injury, death, disability and suffering arising from violence and unintentional incidents of injury, and supporting psychosocial recovery after such incidents.
Scope of the research
These placements will be based at the UNISA ISHS in either Johannesburg or Cape Town and the research project will relate to VIPRU’s work. Two placements will be offered in 2020.

The value of the Fellowship will be between R308 448 to R373 610 per annum, and carries no fringe benefits. The project will run for 1 to 3 years.
