Purpose statement:

The purpose of this Programme is to equip TVET lecturers with the necessary skills, values, and competencies to design, develop and publish online teaching and learning activities. The Programme will enable TVET lecturers to use different types of assessments in an online learning environment. In addition, the TVET lecturers will understand ways of engaging students in an online learning environment as well as explore the theoretical and conceptual constructs of online learning design underpinned by selected theories.

Modules:

PTVET01 - Online module design and development

Content: This module teaches students to: Install Moodle local host on their computer devices Design a module/course plan Develop a storyboard Outline the module/course Identify digital skills for online modules Create an online module/course Publish an online module /course site Theory and practice of Online teaching and learning (PTVET01)

PTVET02 - Assessing learning in an online environment

Content: Upon completion of this module, students are able to: Identify types of assessments in online learning Establish the importance of formative assessments and feedback in an online learning environment Acquire the knowledge and skills to conduct assessments in an online learning environment map online learning and assessment activities through Bloom's taxonomy levels

PTVET03 - Facilitation of online learning

Content: Upon completion of this module students will: Learn how to change your current role of face-to-face facilitation to online facilitation. Know how to maintain the effective student-facilitator relationship Be able to apply facilitation principles in online learning to maintain an open and positive relationship for learning Know the importance of motivating and engaging students Apply time management skills in an online learning environment

PTVET04 - Theory and practice of Online teaching and learning

Content: When students complete this module, they will be able to: Know the theories underpinning online learning Identify and describe the infrastructure for online teaching and learning Identify, know and understand technologies for online learning Understand copyright issues in online learning
