Chance 2 Advance

About the Chance 2 Advance

The next revolution in South Africa is going to be a learning revolution. Learn WHOEVER you are, is the undertaking of this special programme. The Chance 2 Advance aims to meet the learning needs of our society by providing a kaleidoscope of relevant and user-friendly learning opportunities linked to the development needs highlighted in the White Paper Post School Education and Training, National Development Plan 2030, the African Union’s Agenda 2063, United Nations Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Mission

The Chance 2 Advance seeks to liberate, democratise and mobilize knowledge out of the university to create access for South African communities to cutting edge, current and socially transformative knowledge while concurrently mobilizing community knowledge into the university to transform, enrich and revitalise scholarship.

Vision

To be a world-class leader in knowledge mobilization for social good.

Objectives

  1. Promote a national culture of learning, so that all people can be better informed, equipped and prepared for life, study, work and community participation.
  2. Create the opportunity for people who are generally excluded from formal learning to be part of a community of learning for a better life.
  3. Build resilience and self-reliance through learning that leads to improved public participation and active citizenship.
  4. Enhance critical skills and earning power, build capacity and facilitate preparedness for the world of work.
  5. Provide motivation and enrichment in diverse contexts by taking learning to communities - not only to higher education institutions.
  6. Communicate the collective social-justice and socio-economic benefits of learning.
  7. Encourage the valorisation of learning as a tool for transformation and the realization of the African renaissance.
  8. Bridge the knowledge gap experienced by disadvantaged and marginalized communities through greater access to quality community education offerings.

  10. Encourage engaged teaching and research.
  11. Create networks and partnerships towards education and social revitalization.
