Shivani Singh, Chief Project Officer at the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA) – The Automative Business Council, will join a dynamic conversation on New-energy Vehicles and the Changing Global Automotive Economy: Sustaining the Local Automotive Industry, at Unisa’s Catalytic Niche Area (CNA) Research Symposium taking place on 30 and 31 July 2025.This panel discussion will examine the evolving global landscape of mobility, electrification and sustainability, as well as what that means for South Africa’s automotive future.
The symposium, themed Innovating for the Future: Integrating Technology, Sustainability, and Humanity, brings together academics, industry leaders and policymakers to discuss practical, research-driven solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
The symposium’s delegates, postgraduate students and early-career researchers are also invited to join two virtual CNA roundtables on Friday 1 August 2025, to critically engage in key research themes discussed at the symposium.
NAAMSA is a leading industry representative body that actively and responsibly represents, promotes, advances and protects the interests of local manufacturers and assemblers of passenger, light- and heavy commercial vehicles, as well as major importers and distributors of new vehicles in South Africa.

Shivani Singh serves as the Chief Project Officer at NAAMSA - The Automative Business Council. She holds a Master of Commerce in Economics degree, with specialisation in industrial development. Singh is a seasoned operations executive and leads portfolios of inter-disciplinary activities, including financial management, governance and compliance, people management, marketing and public relations, as well as new business development.
She is a subject matter expert on business strategy development and optimisation, and advises local and global C-suite executives on key strategic issues, such as transformation, localisation, sustainability and carbon neutrality, export development, production optimisation and social impact interventions.
Singh served as a board member of two organisations – Productivity SA, where she led initiatives to promote employment growth and productivity; and the Chairperson of the Automotive Industry Export Council, where she represented the interests of the automotive component sector to drive an agenda of export promotion for emerging suppliers.
She also served as a subject matter expert on the Investment Management Committee of the Automotive Industry Transformation Fund, an Equity Equivalent Investment Programme for the South African automotive sector. Additionally, Singh is an expert on the transition to new energy vehicles and she has supported several automotive companies to develop and implement their production transition plans, and develop carbon neutrality interventions to support their customers’ requirements.
