Purpose: To enable students to 1) develop their own views on current South African inequalities and flashpoints by exposure to systematic information, sociological concepts and theories (current conditions are understood within the changing South African and global context), and 2) interpret sociological trends in the South African context, and compare them with other selected African, developing and developed countries.
