Honours Year module NQF level: 8 Credits: 24
Module presented in English Module presented online
Purpose: The purpose of the module is to provide students with the necessary competencies to manage change. The 21st century has brought with it major changes in the expectations that society has of organisations. Together with globalisation and major technological innovation, it has even changed the way industries are configured. This module explores the role of the manager in "new" organisations. These organisations develop in response to the major, ongoing change in the business environment and differ from traditional organisations in terms of structure, technology, strategy and relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Students are specifically empowered to (a) evaluate the challenges facing "new" organisations and their managers (evaluate when change is needed), (b) plan a(n) change/intervention (planning in good as well as bad times); (c) organise the organisation to fit the planned change; (d) lead and implement the change in an organisation; and (e) control / set the change.
