Purpose: This module is a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) module meant for semi advanced and/or semi seasoned agricultural practitioners and as such the purpose of this module is to introduce such students to actual advanced standard "Hands On" crop production practices through production of a specific crop species from "field to floor." This means that students who are registered for GPM2601 will be expected to be embedded in a farming environment where they will plan, produce, harvest and grade a crop species under minimum supervision. Upon successful completion of this module, students will become advanced and/or semi seasoned agricultural practitioners who will be able to perform crop husbandry and pertinent office management practices under minimum supervision whilst maintaining consistency with principles of profitable "Good Agricultural Practices" (GAP). It is essential to point out that students who successfully complete this module will be ready to undertake the advanced Work Integrated Module GPM3702 wherein they will be trained to independently supervise sub-ordinates who will be performing profitable "Good Agricultural Practices" both for crop and animal production enterprises.
