Dr Moses Hlongoane, the Executive Dean of the College of Accounting Sciences, joins the 2025 Teaching and Learning Festival winners and organising committee in proudly celebrating the college's champions of excellence.
The College of Accounting Sciences (CAS) continues to demonstrate that excellence is deeply embedded in its academic culture and takes great pride in the exceptional calibre of its staff, who consistently distinguish themselves through innovation, scholarship and impact.
This year, CAS once again showcased its academic strength at the college-level Teaching and Learning Festival held in July, where Dr Sedzani Musundwa (Excellence Award for Scholarship in Teaching and Learning), Busisiwe Huma (Excellence Award for Student Support), Sithandiwe Mgoyana (Excellence Award for Assessment) and Tsatsawane Nkwinika and Senzekile Mofokeng (Excellence Award for Innovation in Tuition) received top honours for their outstanding contributions. These achievements reaffirm the college’s continued dominance in academic excellence, having secured top awards for three consecutive years at the institutional awards.
CAS Executive Dean, Dr Moses Hlongoane, congratulated the winners and commended them for their dedication to advancing the quality of teaching and learning at Unisa. He emphasised that the college’s success reflects the depth of talent within its academic community. "We are proud of the work our academics continue to do in shaping the next generation of accounting professionals. Their commitment and achievements affirm that CAS remains a leader in teaching, learning and innovation," he said.
The recognition of CAS academics extends far beyond Unisa. Recently, Jacques van Staden and Jennifer Muteba were honoured on the international stage at the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) Accounting Educator Awards 2025, hosted by AICPA and CIMA. Van Staden received the CGMA Innovation Award (Global Silver) for pioneering impactful teaching initiatives. At the same time, Muteba earned the CGMA Diversity and Inclusion Global Gold Award for embedding inclusive practices and creating transformational learning opportunities for disadvantaged communities.
These international accolades, coupled with the college’s consistent success at institutional level, reflect the world-class calibre of CAS academics. The college takes pride in cultivating an environment where innovation, inclusivity and excellence thrive, affirming that the spirit of achievement is truly alive within it.
