Unisa’s international exchange visit to Switzerland is currently in full swing, taking place from 10 to 25 May 2025. Hosted by the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences and the University of Basel, the programme offers a dynamic platform to explore and connect with Switzerland’s globally acclaimed innovation ecosystem. The delegation comprises staff and student innovators from different colleges in the university.

The delegation is led by Prof Marcia Mkansi from the College of Economic and Management Sciences and the previous winner of the institution’s apex Innovation Award, with a number of innovations under her belt, and Dr Olwethu Sipuka, the Executive Dean of Students.
The visit is coordinated by the Directorate of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Commercialisation (DITTC). Highlights of the visit include strategic engagements at the University of Basel, Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences, University of Bern, CERN, Impact Hub, and other innovation-supporting organisations in Switzerland. The delegation will also attend the premier startup event in Switzerland, the Startup Days in Bern, where they will have the opportunity to engage with other innovators, venture firms, potential clients, mentors and partners.
This international exchange marks another significant step in Unisa’s commitment to advancing innovation, fostering global partnerships, and unlocking new opportunities for its innovators on the world stage.
