Explaining what inspired the album, Devroop said: "Musicians have always interpreted popular music. I wanted to create songs that would be appealing to the audience." Devroop added that "the CD launch also highlights Unisa as an institution that supports the arts, inclusivity and social cohesion because music brings together people from different racial groups, ethnicities, and ages, transcending every single barrier".
