The Unisa Music Foundation recently held a gala concert at the ZK Matthews Hall to record a CD titled "Overjoyed". The CD features the Mzansi National Philharmonic Orchestra with Bongani Tembe, the Artistic Director and Chief Executive Officer of the orchestra, and Karendra Devroop, Professor of Music and Director of Unisa Music Foundation. Other artists included Hans Vroomans from The Netherlands on the piano, Mageshen Naidoo from South Africa on the guitar and Hein van de Geyn from The Netherlands on the bass. The recording comprises ten well-known songs by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Sting, Bill Joel, Randy Crawford, and others.

Explaining what inspired the album, Devroop said: "Musicians have always interpreted popular music. I wanted to create songs that would be appealing to the audience." Devroop added that "the CD launch also highlights Unisa as an institution that supports the arts, inclusivity and social cohesion because music brings together people from different racial groups, ethnicities, and ages, transcending every single barrier".
