Key Stakeholders on the Future of Water at UNISA Conference
Looking at the water challenge our society is facing it's critical to tackle this challenge with a solid understanding of water quality and scarcity at play. Sculpting new research frontiers will help us bring a more prospective mindset to the challenge, allowing us to better prepare for the future.
On the 16th of November 2023, Unisa’s Institute for Nanotechnology and Water Sustainability will host an annual industry-academia-government conference, 2023 iNanoWS Guvhangano, under the theme “Sculpting new research frontiers”. Various key stakeholders from industry, academia and government all working in the field of water treatment and sustainability are cordially invited to attend the conference.
2023 Guvhangano will focus on one strategic key focus area: Sustainability and Acid Mine Drainage. There will be keynote lectures delivered by experts, and student presentations and posters, including round table discussions. Guvhangano ("Guvhangano" means "conference" in the local Tshivenda language), and since the inaugural Guvhangano held in September 2021, the conference has received widespread support from industry, academia and government both nationally and internationally. The purpose of the Guvhangano is to demonstrate the wealth of globally competitive research at iNanoWS that speaks to the needs of society, especially in Southern Africa. The Guvhangano also aims to evoke crucial conversations on the roles and relevance of iNanoWS and the College of Science, Engineering and Technology (CSET) initiatives at the core of its partnerships with local and international industries, academia and various government entities.
