Other

Angel studied her Bachelor of Arts and her Honours degrees specialising in Criminology at the University of Pretoria. She then completed her Masters and Doctoral degrees in Criminal Justice specialising in Police Science at the University of South Africa. Furthermore, she completed a certificate in Criminal Justice and Forensic Investigation at the University of Johannesburg.

  • She has been employed at the University of South Africa as an academic since 2008.
  • In 2019, she was appointed as one of the expert reviewers to conduct the National Quarter Century performance review of the democratic South Africa in relation to the services provided by the South African Criminal Justice system.
  • In 2020, she became an external programme reviewer for the Council on Higher Education (CHE) responsible for safety and security related programme evaluations. 
  • In 2021 she participated in the South African Police Service Policing- nomics project. 
  • In 2022 she was appointed as the Chair of the Department of Police Practice.
