David started his nursing career in 1984 as an ENA trainee and completed an Enrolled nursing in 1986. In 1992 completed the bridging course leading to Registration as a general nurse. In 1998 completed Diploma in Midwifery. In 2000 completed the Diploma in Nephrology. In 2004 completed the B,Cur (Ed et Adm)OHN. Complete M.Cur (Health Services Education) in 2010. Completed the PhD (Nursing) in 2016
He worked in several hospitals provincial but mostly private clinics. Most of the time worked as a dialysis nurse and critical nurse. He has a vast experience in clinical nursing and has been operational manager for several years. David has also been in acting positions as Nursing Services Manager on several occasions including the AngloGold Ashanti Health Care.
David has also a vast experience in teaching as he taught in several institutions like NMMU (UPE), Baragwanath Nursing College, Pfundzo Ndenzhe Nursing College (Carletonville), Wits University and now Lecturer at UNISA.
He is well travelled both nationally and internationally where he has presented oral and poster papers in several conferences. David has also been part of the panel discussions and chaired several conferences. He is also currently supervising masters students of which several have completed. He has published some articles in journals and has contributed a chapter in a book “Handbook of Research on theoretical perspectives on Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) in developing countries”. David is now the president of Renal Care society of South Africa. He was awarded the Lifetime achiever award by the same society. David is now a Full Professor at the University of South Africa (Department of Health Studies).
