Other

Mamotshabo Johanna Boloka is a lecturer in the Information Science department at UNISA. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Information Science at the University of South Africa in the Department of Information Science. The title of her thesis is “A framework for bridging information service chasm in a rural setting without public library facilities”. Her study intends to explore the provision of information services in rural settings without library facilities with the view to develop a framework to bridge the information service chasm. Her research project is supervised by Professor GV Jiyane and Professor Mpho Ngoepe. Ms Boloka is reviewing papers from accredited journals in South Africa. Ms Boloka worked for private sector (AISA now incorporated with HSRC, NHLS and NIOH/NICD), government sector (NPA) and two public universities in South Africa (UL and UniZulu) before joining UNISA. She is currently teaching AIS2601 (Bibliographic Control, Basic Descriptive Cataloguing and Classification) and INS3707 (Information Organisation and Retrieval).Her research interests include cataloguing and classification, indexing and abstracting, user studies, public librarianship, literacy in rural settings and ICT in libraries.
