Professor Elize Du Plessis (Department of Curriculum and Instructional Studies) won the prestigious Education Association of South Africa (EASA) research medal 2021. She was nominated by her peers and colleagues for her exceptional contribution to research in the field of education and was selected for this award by EASA as a top scholar in her field. The medal is awarded to an individual who has attained outstanding achievements in the field of educational research over a period of at least 10 years and who has not previously received this award.
Prof Du Plessis has been a member of EASA since 2009 and became an EXCO member in 2017, with two portfolios: Special Interest groups for 2017/2018 and Special Interest groups and web page coordinator 2019-2021.
Prof du Plessis has also been announced as the incoming chair of EASA in 2022. An incoming Chairperson to succeed the current Chairperson in the year following his/her term of office and keep the webpage up to date. He/she also needs to write two electronic newsletters to members (June / November) to keep members up to date on EASA news.
