Unisa's Department of Psychology of Education celebrates DEEPEG student successes

Department of Psychology of Education (DPsyEd), on the 26 April 2023 attended a graduation ceremony in Mamelodi, Pretoria in support of African Seed Organisation and DEEPEG youth skills development organization, which is part of many activities under Tateni Engaged Scholarship: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty under the auspices of Professor R Tabane, School Director: Educational Studies. DEEPEG works towards skilling youth in different fields and is funded by Department of Social Development. DPsyEd role is to provide psychological support, and career guidance/choices to students in this organisation.

Mr. Daniel Phala the founding Director of DEEPEG training solutions and Centre manager for African Seed organisation delivered a moving speech on the importance of finding your purpose in life.  

On this day, students were awarded certificates, and celebrated their success with their parents, family, and friends. Certificates were awarded in the following categories:

  • Computer studies: 46
  • Carpentry: 29
  • Plumbing: 12 and
  • Electrical 14

These skills will increase their employability when they exit the programme or even start their own small business.
