The Department of Taxation focusses on educating students who aspire to become tax specialists. The department also caters for aspiring chartered accountants and allied professions at an undergraduate level (BCompt), while also offering service modules for a variety of other bachelor degree programmes offered by the university. We also offer a specialised undergraduate degree in Taxation (BCompt in Taxation), a postgraduate diploma in Taxation, as well as tutored and research-based master and doctoral degrees.

The department exists, to equip and empower students, to develop capacity for logical analysis, of legal taxation issues, required to operate within public and private sectors. Our qualifications provide ample opportunities for students, to either start their own businesses, register as tax practitioners with SARS or join private and public organizations.
Our qualifications are accredited by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) and endorsed by a number of professional bodies.
