Unisa and the recognised trade unions (NEHAWU and APSA) agree to suspend strike

In terms of a court order issued by the Labour Court of South Africa on Thursday, 06 February 2020, the University of South Africa (Unisa) and the two recognised trade unions that have embarked on a strike since 24 January 2020 (Viz: NEHAWU and APSA), the parties have now reached agreement to suspend the strike with immediate effect. Click here for the settlement agreement.

The parties have also agreed to reconvene for mediation within 72 hours from the conclusion of the agreement; in a bid to resolve the dispute on the 2020 salary increases.

The conclusion of the agreement effectively means that all striking employees are required to report for duty with immediate effect.
