NRF Director to address Innovation Festival
Dr Zolani Dyosi
Dr Zolani Dyosi, a Director at the National Research Foundation (NRF), will deliver a keynote address on A South African model for a Government/Academic/SME innovation and technology development partnership: A case for renewable energy innovations at Unisa’s Innovation Festival 2023.
The event, now in its second year, will run from 27 November to 1 December 2023 at Unisa’s Muckleneuk and Science (Florida) Campuses, as well as at the Southern Sun Hotel in Pretoria. It offers a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest innovation trends at Unisa, discuss broad trends in innovation, research and collaboration, and build partnerships within the innovation ecosystem.
The theme of the festival this year, The future of innovation: Accelerating impact through collaboration, will be debated and discussed in a series of keynote addresses, panel discussions, workshops and networking platforms led by innovation leaders from academia, government, non-governmental organisations, funding agencies, social entrepreneurship ventures and private sector organisations involved in innovation.

About Dr Dyosi
Dr Zolani Dyosi has been a Director at the National Research Foundation (NRF) for over 10 years. He has managed various industry and government research and innovation partnership programmes, including the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition’s Technology and Human Resources for Industry Programme (THRIP); the Department of Science and Innovation’s Indigenous Knowledge Systems research programme; the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development’s Research and Technology Fund; the NRF-Sasol Collaborative Research Grants; and the South African National Space Agency’s New Earth Observation Frontiers research programme.
His career in research and innovation support spans over 15 years working with companies in telecommunications, energy, pharmaceuticals, mining and agriculture, among others. Dyosi’s qualifications include a Doctorate in Chemistry from the Tshwane University of Technology, a Master of Business Leadership from Unisa, a Certificate in Strategic Management Development Programme from Stellenbosch University, and a Certificate in Entrepreneurship from the University of Pretoria.
