Department of Transport (DOT) Bursary guidelines

Who can apply?

  • South African citizens who are 35 years old and below
  • UNISA undergraduate and postgraduate (NQF level 6 to 8) students who have attained an average of at least 50% on their prior academic year of study
  • Returning beneficiaries must have passed 50% or more on their previous year registered/ funded modules
  • Only students registered for the following qualifications may apply:
    • Undergraduate:
      • BCom Transport Economics
      • BCom Logistics
      • Diploma in Civil Engineering
      • Advance Diploma in Civil Engineering
    • Postgraduate:
      • Honours Transport Economics
      • Honours Logistics
    • NB: The funding is subject to the availability of funds.

What does the bursary cover?

  • Tuition fees
  • prescribed textbooks
  • The bursary does NOT fund failed/ repeating modules

How to apply?

  • Complete the application form
    • Click here to download the application form
    • No incomplete application form will be accepted
  • Applications must be sent to makgarc@unisa.ac.za through student’s myLife email account

Please note:

  • Returning students must re-apply for funding
  • Students need to check their myLife email account to access the bursary outcome
