National Lockdown: Tutorials and Academic Literary support

As a way to support students during the national lockdown, Midlands Region will be providing limited online services for tutorial and academic literacy materials for students. Students are encouraged to read these materials as part of academic support from the university.

Tutorial services:

The function of this unit is to provide face-to-face tutorial services for selected high-risk modules, as determined by the university. The unit serves as a link between the student and the tutor. Although tutorial classes are provided free of charge, students must register to attend. Tutorials are learner-centered (rather than tutor-centered) and interactive, with a tutor facilitating the learning process.

Academic literacy:

The services which this unit offers, are divided into reading and writing, and quantitative literacy and Post Graduate Academic literacy. The reading and writing component help students to sharpen their skills as the first language and additional language speakers of English, through both generic and non-discipline-specific writing. Quantitative literacy assists students with numeracy skills. This service is available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
